It is so sad that the pharmaceutical industry is “selling” sickness all over TV programs with ads to try to make you THINK sick, and they are especially marketing to the older folks. What a shame.
Both my wife and I are over 70 years of age and are ever so healthy. We just don’t think about being sick. Actually, we don’t accept sickness. And we especially don’t make any sickness “our own”.
We won’t say things like “my” arthritis or “my” migraines, or “my” asthma. Once you make it yours, you have accepted the problem instead of fighting it. Actually the best way to fight it is to simply speak health. And not sickness.
People don’t realize how much power our THOUGHTS have and especially our WORDS. You would think that people would get a hint from those big marketing companies who know how to put thoughts in your head and speak illness to you. That’s how they are able to sell billions in medication to those people that they have convinced of sickness. The smart thing is to reverse that marketing philosophy by speaking health and focusing your thoughts on your well-being.
The Word of God says that laughter is the best medicine. “A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit (accepting defeat) dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22).
I love greeting older folks by saying, “good morning young lady”, or “good morning young man”. I get all sorts of reactions… Simply because it says that encouragement is terrific for anyone’s health, including your own. “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones” (Pro 3:7,8).
Plus reading the Word energizes you. It is spirit and life. “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life” (Jn.6:63). So if people would realize the power of reading God’s word and receiving it in their heart and speaking it to themselves, they would be full of life and youth and energy. I read the Word every morning and get so energized by it, you’d think I’m on steroids. “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body“ (Pro 4:20-22).
And don’t act smart in your own eyes. Look to the Lord and to His Word, and you’ll be rich in health. “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones” (Proverbs 3:7-8).
It’s not all about the gym… it’s a lot more about your godly spirit and attitude of heart. “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” (1 Timothy 4:8).
This morning we received a video from a friend about this man who started running at 95 years of age and competing in different races for the elderly. And he became world champion at 97. He even fell in love again at that age. I really got inspired by the story of this (young) man. Youth is in the heart.
That’s the way we operate. We refuse to even focus on any pain or illness whatsoever. Whenever we hear “it’s flu season, you better get your shots”, we actually verbalized “not for me”. We say it out loud in rejection as to counteract the ill effects on those lies on our mind.
Remember, the more you focus on something, the more you become a slave to that thought. You get used to it, then you make it yours, and you become a servant of it simply by accepting it. “Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin (sickness) which leads to death, or to obedience (to the WORD), which leads to righteousness?” (Roman 6:16).
If you don’t think that this is true, just try it. Just speak health to your body. I mean verbalize positive thoughts. Yes, use your words to speak to your body. God has made it so that words have creative power.
So talk to your illnesses or problems and reject them, refute them, and speak only positivity thoughts and health to yourself and to your problems. Better yet, don’t speak to your problems, speak out your blessings. Focus on how healthy you are, how blessed you are. God lives in possibilities not in impossibilities. “For with God, ALL things are possible”. It even says, “all things are possible to him that believes”. So focus on your Faith. Put your faith into words. Faith without works (words) is dead.
