Let’s start from the beginning…When God created man, He created him in His image, with full authority and dominion over everything on the earth. God also gave man the power to create, and to procreate, and to multiply that image of perfection. He ALSO gave him one other powerful attribute: The power of choice–the choice to obey or to disobey.
He told Adam, “If you eat of that one tree of the ‘KNOWLEDGE of good and evil’ you’ll die.” (See Gen 2:17) We become extremely powerful when we operate in obedience, but we become very negative and toxic when we operate in disobedience.
Here’s what happens when we DISOBEY. We toxify our own being. In fact, quantum physics has discovered that whenever we think toxic thoughts, our brain secretes a poisonous substance into our body which causes illnesses and sickness. When we’re toxic, our mind is no longer able to operate in harmony with our God-given gifts and abilities. Just consider what happens when we get angry, or fearful or envious, bitter or anxious or whatever toxic state of mind we may get into. Our mind just weirds out. We say and do stupid things, we can’t make sensible decisions and our thoughts become destructive.
Here’s the reason: God created the human mind to ONLY operate in harmony with His Spirit and to His moral laws. When we’re in disobedience to those, our mind dies on us. The veracity of that truth didn’t happen only in the garden, it is verified every day that we operate in our own spirit.
There is something that happened in the garden that became irreparable. Because Adam CHOSE to operate in disobedience his spirit died, and his mind was no longer in harmony and in fellowship with the Spirit of God. And it made it so that all of us, descendants of Adam, were born with that same dead spirit, called the “sin-nature”, a kind of contamination that entered mankind through disobedience. A glitch in the programming that couldn’t repair itself. “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned” (Romans 5:12).
And this is the reason why Jesus came. He said, “For this reason I have come into the world to bear witness to the TRUTH” (Jn 18:37). –To bring truth and the laws of harmony back into the human mind. Jesus says, “I have come to destroy the works of the devil” (MT 26:63).
His mission was to destroy the trojan virus that satan contaminated mankind with, and reconnect man to God. And He did so, not only through His sacrifice on the cross by paying the full price for the redemption of man, but also throughout His life, He taught truth; the principles and the moral laws of truth and harmony so man can operate at his optimum mode of operation.
Through His sacrifice, Jesus won the dominion back from the devil. “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Pet 2:24). After He was resurrected Jesus told His disciples “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Mat 28:18). This is the most important fact to acknowledge in the New Testament, otherwise we are going to think that we are still under the enemy’s oppression and power.
If education focused mostly on the moral values, the principles and the laws that God has established to help man function properly, in harmony with God’s laws, the world would be a very different place.
Education may increase intelligence but it doesn’t make you wise. It can load your brain with an awesome amount of information, but knowledge is not what makes you smart, wisdom does.
Someone once said, “An uneducated man will steal a railroad car, but an educated man will steal the whole train”. The point is that education doesn’t cleanse you of the sin nature that is in the heart of man. Education doesn’t clean your heart from being bad in your natural state. It just makes you a smarter sinner.
And could it be that the world is in the state it’s in because we’re being governed by “educated” fools. Sorry, but that’s what the Bible said: “The fool says in his heart, ‘there is no God.’ They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good” (Ps 14:1).
That is the reason why Jesus had to come. By taking the sins of all mankind to the cross. He paid the full price so that man could be reconnected to his Creator. Through faith we can come into God’s grace: the gift of redemption, our spirit can come to life; our dead spirit can be born again. And it’s not until we are born of the Spirit that we can fully understand life and live life to the full.
When Nicodemus, who was highly educated and a ruler of the religious council, a man who should have understood all philosophical and psychological principles of life, when he came to Jesus, he asked, “How is it that you can perform such miracles and you’re not even educated”? And Jesus replied, “How is it that you are so highly educated, and you don’t understand that your spirit must be born again. Man can’t operate properly and see the kingdom of God, unless his Spirit is born” (Jn 3:1-21).
Jesus said, “Verily I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit (of God) gives birth to (your) spirit. You should not be surprised at My saying, the wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit” (Jn 3:1-8).
He was telling him, you cannot SEE the Spirit, nor can you SEE God. You can’t SEE love either, but you sure can FEEL it. You can’t see the wind, but you can feel it. You can’t see the spirit of a man operating in love, in peace and in harmony with God, but you sure can feel the effects on his life.
We were just not ever made to lead our own life on our own. The Bible says, “O Lord, I know that the path of life of a man is not in himself; It is not within the limited ability of man even one at his best to choose and direct his steps in life” (Jer 10:23). “The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in His ways” (Ps 37:22).
Man was just not created to manage his own life. And regardless of how educated we may become, education does not give life to our spirit. It only loads up our brain with stuff. You may have a massive hard drive, but if the operating system is corrupted, you’ll have a problem.
Education is somewhat similar to money. You can have a lot of it, but it doesn’t mean you’ll find happiness. In fact most people who have a lot of either education or money are usually pretty unhappy and frustrated individuals.
God created man to be a trium. We are a SPIRIT, who has a soul (mind and emotions) and we live in a BODY. But unless the spirit is alive, our mind and our emotional being can struggle a whole lifetime to find the operator’s manual to operate that body.
If you want to live a FULL-FILLED life and want to come into your full purpose and destiny, turn the steering wheel of your life to God. Accept by faith the sacrifice that Jesus did to redeem you back into fellowship with your father. Surrender your Life in obedience to God.
Pray this simple prayer with me:
“Jesus, I fully receive the fact that you came to take away the sin-nature, the contamination of my heart. And I receive you as my Savior and my Lord and I turn my will, my heart and my life over to You. I want to be born again…born of the Spirit”.
Read the book of James. It’s short and it explains those moral values, and then read the gospel of John.
