I wake up every morning and once I have greeted Jesus, I tell Him, “I know there’s MORE. Tell me MORE, show me more.” The Christian life is a never ending source of revelations, growth, and amazement.
I flew in from abroad yesterday and got into a shuttle bus at the airport, and the driver, a young man, was a Christian, an on-fire Christian. (In fact I saved his number as such. “Leon on-fire for God”.) And as we were chatting, he was telling me, “If you’re reading the Bible and you’re not amazed and flabbergasted every day, you’re not getting it”. That’s so true.
King David got it right, he said, “I rejoice at your Word like one who finds great spoil. I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love Your law” (Ps 119:61). Imagine getting up every morning and finding a great TREASURE right there by your study table… what?! Here’s what he said, “The law of Thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver” (Ps 119:72).
Even Jesus, when He was with us, would get up early in the morning and go for those “treasures”. It says, “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He departed and went out to a desolate place, and there He prayed” (Mark 1:35). He knew that principle of seeking God early. “I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me early shall find Me” (Pro 8:17). And that word “early” also means “earnestly”. You just give your best to Him, early and earnestly.
It’s not only treasures that you find when you get close to Him, but full joy and pleasures as well. “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps16:11).
Jesus said, “Out of your belly shall flow rivers of living waters” (Jn 7:38). His Word is filled with faith-full solutions, promises, principles, formulas; and they’ll all work in your favor if you apply them. Plus, it’s filled with inspiration, instructions, etc. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2Tim 3:16).
When you start your day knowing that “it’s not in man to direct his path” (Jer 10:23) but that in acknowledging Him in all your ways, He will direct your path, you’re then in that position to get so filled up… “Let me hear in the morning of Your steadfast love, for in You I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul” (Ps 143:8).
I’m a little older now, but I’m convinced that there’s ENERGY, healing, strength and power in His Word, because whenever I fill up on Him and on His Word in the morning, I come out of it energized, I feel young and strong and I can take on the world.. ha! “It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones” (Pro 3:8-9). “My son, attend to My Words; … for they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh” (Pro 4:20-22).
Jesus said that He has come to give us life and more abundantly. –Meaning that what He gives us is not a bunch of restrictions and bondage. It’s FREEDOM to live life to the fullest. “If you continue in My Word then are you My disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you FREE” (Jn 8: 31,32).
Just to realize how much freedom we have, how liberated and emancipated we are is a rush in itself. Paul said, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (Eph 1:3). We are so blessed already and yet every day, there’s more. We’re blessed to bliss.
The more we read His Word, the more He reveals things to us; and the more we obey it, the more we grow, and the more we grow, the more we’re able to share. And that’s the principle of the “rivers of living waters”. You always have so much to give. How so very blessed we are. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness” (Lam 3:22-23).
Makes you want to tell the whole world, doesn’t it? “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days” (Ps 90:14).
