Do You STARVE Your SOUL?

Having a full stomach and a full purse and a full head doesn’t fill your heart. If you put the desires of the flesh above the needs of your spirit then you will find that nothing ever satisfies. “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the Gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mk. 8:34-38).

Let’s meditate on these verses for a moment.  This is something that Jesus said…It is so intense. He was giving us our life’s priorities. He was saying that the most important thing in life is to feed our souls.

He told a whole parable about the rich man and his barns. He said “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’.“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” (Lk 12:16-21).

God wants us to prioritize on His Word. His Words are the true riches. Let’s stay hungry for His Word. “He hath filled the hungry soul with good things, but the rich he hath sent empty away.” (Lk 1:53). For those who are seeking, are hungry and disastified with the things of the world, and are yearning for the spiritual, He has promised great blessings. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”. (Mat 5:6).

I love what King David said about the Word. “I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.” (Ps 119:99)  That’s the true riches.
