Do you want to know how to hear God’s voice? To know how He speaks to you? One of the first and best ways to hear His voice is to become familiar with His WORD. As more time is spent meditating upon the Word of God, the more sensitive we will become to that “still small voice” speaking to our heart.
The Holy Spirit opens up our understanding when reading God’s Word. He makes the Word come ALIVE to us so that we can hear God’s voice, that inner witness. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice” (Jn 10:27). He often QUICKENS a passage or verse to us, applying it to our own personal situation, and He brings the Word to life just for us! All of a sudden it hits our heart and we really get His point! “The entrance of Thy Word giveth light, it giveth understanding to the simple!” (Psa.119:130).
But application is the ultimate goal of all Bible study. In fact, you only really believe the parts of the Bible you live out. Do you believe in sharing Christ with others? Do you believe in tithing? If you don’t do them, then you don’t really believe what the Bible teaches about them.
The problem that most of us have with the Bible isn’t what we don’t understand; it’s to actually apply what we do understand! Study the Bible systematically. You might choose to study it verse-by-verse, book-by-book, topic-by-topic, or theme-by-theme. Read the Bible over and over again. This simple discipline will change your life. It’s amazing how much you can get out of a passage if you study the same passage over and over again and then come back to the same passage a few months later. The more you read a passage, the more you’ll get out of it.
There’s no better time than today to start studying the Bible. No matter how you choose to study, decide to apply and live out what you read, and you’ll get more out of whatever you read.
If you commit to read and soak in God’s Word everyday, you won’t ever have to worry about hearing God.
Here are some good scriptures about it:
