Boldness in faith is the willingness to take risks and face challenges head-on, even when it’s uncomfortable or frightening. It’s stepping out of our comfort zones and standing firm in our convictions, regardless of the circumstances or potential consequences.
Boldness in faith is about trusting God wholeheartedly and allowing that trust to fuel our actions. It’s about walking out our beliefs with courage, conviction, and unwavering confidence in God’s plan and provision. That kind of faith becomes a living testimony to the power of God’s love and grace, inspiring others to also walk out their faith and drawing them closer to Him.
Throughout the Bible, the ones who impacted the world were those people who displayed incredible boldness in their faith. They rose above their fears and limitations and proved that when we choose to trust God and step out in faith, He can use us in remarkable ways.
David facing Goliath was the least likely candidate to face that fearsome Philistine warrior. Yet, armed with only a sling and five smooth stones, David stepped onto the battlefield with unwavering confidence in God’s ability to deliver victory (1 Samuel 17). His courage and faith in God’s power served as a testament to the entire nation of Israel and, ultimately led to Goliath’s defeat.
Moses also, an Israelite raised in the Egyptian palace, could have chosen a life of comfort and privilege. Instead, he answered God’s call to confront Pharaoh, demanding the release of his people from slavery. Despite the risks involved and his own insecurities, Moses chose to trust God and boldly advocate for the freedom of God’s people (Exodus 3-14).
And the greatest example is the boldness of Jesus throughout His ministry. The one particularly striking example is the cleansing of the temple (Matthew 21:12-13; Mark 11:15-17; Luke 19:45-46; John 2:13-16). In a courageous act of righteous indignation, Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers and drove out those who were taking advantage of the worshippers. He demonstrated His authority and proclaimed His deep love for God and His commitment to truth and justice. And Jesus kept confronting the hypocrisy of the Pharisees to highlight the true purpose of God’s laws. No wonder God’s Word compares boldness in faith to that of a lion.

Boldness in faith goes hand-in-hand with trust in God. When we truly believe that God has our best interests at heart, we’re able to take risks, face challenges, and persevere through adversity, knowing that He’ll never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5).
Faith is not acting blindly or recklessly; to the contrary, it is the “confidence in what we hope for and the assurance of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1, NIV); we’re simply choosing to trust in the unseen reality of God’s presence, power, and promises, above the appearance of the circumstances or feelings that might suggest otherwise. Think of it, God has even sent us His Holy Spirit, Who is bold and courageous, to empower us to witness our faith (Acts 1:8).
Bold faith opens up a myriad of benefits that can impact both our personal lives and the lives of those around us:
- Boldness is the main ingredient in the recipe to spiritual growth, as we depend on God more deeply and consistently. The more we trust Him, the stronger our relationship with Him as we gain a deeper understanding of His Word and of His character.
- Boldness in faith also equips us with the resilience to withstand life’s inevitable trials and difficulties. It’s in trusting God utterly and persevere through adversity that we emerge stronger and more refined on the other side (James 1:2-4).
- Boldness causes us to fulfill our God-given purpose: witnessing our faith. The more we step out in faith and take risks in standing up for our faith, the more we experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from living out our God-given purpose.
- Boldness in proclaiming the goodness of God makes a significant impact on the world around us.
- Boldness and courageous faith in our convictions inspires others to live out their own faith and it inspires them to also transform lives and communities.
When he was about to go into the promised land, Joshua received this one command from God, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9).
Paul told Timothy, “God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). Timidity and shyness and especially ashamedness have nothing to do with faith. God has actually worked out a plan through Jesus for us to come to Him in boldness. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16).

Isn’t there enough evil to stand up against? Jesus said that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church that stands up in bold faith (Matthew 16:18). Young David answered his own brothers who criticized him, “Is there not a cause?” as an indictment of their fearful spirit, lack of faith and passivity (1 Samuel 17:28).
There are too many who talk about change, but are unwilling to courageously go after the Goliath that is taunting them.
Let’s STOP letting other people make our decisions and let’s step out in bold obedience to God’s calling for each one of us, and decide to publicly follow Jesus and stand up unashamed of His truth; by doing so, we’ll find God’s destiny both for our business and personal life and we’ll discover what’s going to fulfill us and what we’re meant to do and be, like never before. Let’s start believing boldly in the “possible”.
